This is the first time I've come back to this blog in a long time. Looking back at the play room, how it looked just months ago is sort of looking at my life just months ago and the changes I've made in it. My play room is now pink and green and the furnishings have been changed around. It's more organized too. I have new chairs and a love seat also. My life is now brighter and more full and better organized.
We, as humans, especially as women tend to hold onto things just because we always have had them. Relationships. Just because you have been friends with someone for 30 years doesn't mean you have to keep those people in your life. If those people take you back to the person you were before, a person that if you met today you wouldn't particularly care for, let them go. The Bible instructs us to not keep unhealthy relationships. Just this week, I've let go of two 30 year friendships because they are unhealthy. They gave me anxiety. They took me back to being someone that I don't like. Good bye former friends. I do pray the best in life for you. I just don't want to be part of it any longer and I don't want you in mine.
Hello, new and exciting friendships! I have sisters. I have 8 sisters in fact. I have 8 sisters and 2 brothers and they are all younger than I am. How much more blessed can I be? This past summer, I got to see my sisters in a whole new light. They are adults now. They aren't little kids anymore. I ADORE them! I had so much fun with them and getting to know them as they are now. I only grew up with one of them and saw the others on occasion. Two of them were born long after I moved out on my own. The youngest is younger than both of my daughters. It was one of those mixed family things...we weren't Catholic or anything like that....just the offspring of a very fertile man and a very fertile woman, my step mother. I truly believe God gave me the gift of these amazing women and opened my eyes to them this past summer so I could say goodbye to the unhealthy relationships of my past and greet these new but old and comfortable relationships with open arms.
Over the summer I had the opportunity to share my story of being a saved Jesus girl with my sister Melissa. She is new to the whole being saved by Jesus life. It was truly one of the most beautiful moments in my life. I get choked up every time I think about it....like right now. It was our sister, Hattie that kept encouraging her to seek the Lord. Go Hattie! She's an inspiration to me now. Melissa has been saved. Her marriage, saved. Her personal relationships, saved. Her soul, saved by God.
This past weekend she sent a FB message asking me to join her in a 5 year Bible study journey with her and whomever else is interested in joining. I'm in! Her post came at the perfect time in my life. It was right when I was praying for answers about those two poor relationships I was mentioning earlier. Through prayer I received insight and the knowledge that this would help me along my journey. I've also realized I want to start journaling more...blogging....just for me. If no one reads this, that's perfectly fine. I'm getting these thoughts out of my head. It is so much easier to sort through them.
That is all for now. I need to go fix the Misters lunch so he can go to work. It's what I do with a smile every morning. Yes, I'm being untruthful. Some mornings with a smile and some with a poor attitude. This morning it will be with a smile. I'm going to have a great day and I pray that you will too.

My Craft Rooom
This is my very first blog. I'm sure you will be able to tell. Grab a cup of coffee or tea and join me for a tour of my play room.
My craft room is a 20'x20' room with windows on 3 sides. It's lacking in wall space, has a concrete floor that I hope to someday either paint or cover with flooring. Until I decide what should go there, and of course save the money to do it, it's grey concrete. I've put this room together on a budget of furnishings collected over the years. It's not as beautiful as some I've seen on line (like Sew Many ways...look at hers, it's sew wonderful!!!) but it is quite functional and it's a gift when I get to spend a whole day in here just creating and dreaming.
This is next to the front door. I found this picture in an antique store. It's 3 old gals at a yard sale or tag sale depending on where in the US you are. It totally cracks me up. I'm a sale junky and find the funnest stuff.

My play room has wood heat. It's part of a detached building on our property and not the one we live in. My daughters "apartment" is attached to this room. It will someday be our guest house. The wood stove is really cozy in the winter time but it does give my fabric that smell of.....pioneer living? It's not as bad as camp fire, thank goodness.

To the front of the room, right of the wood stove is my paper crafting area and dog storage. Maggie is the beautiful yellow gal on the big pillow. I honestly believe she is the sweetest girly dog God ever created.
Here is another picture of Maggie, somewhat shy for the camera. The fur covered bed is for our other dog, Tug. He's our comic relief. He's a Jack Russell Terrorist. He has short man syndrome really bad, a total little jerk but he's pretty comical about it. He will be a year old next week. We let him stay just because of his cuteness factor. I had to make him a special place because he kept taking Maggie's big bed and making her lay on the little bed or on the floor. Such a bully dog!

This is Tug's throne. I'm not quite done with it. I need to get better legs and a banner for the top of it made. Perhaps I'll post that at a later time.
This is my sitting and thinking area. The blue chair was a "handy down" from my Mom in law. The brown rocking chair was a $1 purchase. It was raw weathered wood. I painted it brown and put these Pendleton wool blankets on it. The blankets are also a "handy down" from my Mom in law. I really like the way they look on the rocking chair. The foot rest trunk was a $1 purchase. It was sparkly white vinyl when I got it. The top was covered in circle fabric at one time but then came along Tug and his little chewing teeth. Now it has the blue plaid wool to match the seat of the rocker. It holds small bags of batting.
Here is another look at my paper crafting area. I like organized and labeled bins. Sometimes when I have no creativeness in my brain, I'll just reorganize. It's somewhat soothing.

This is my ribbon storage. The old man that works at our small town hardware store really looked at me funny when I asked him to help me find the gutters. He asked all these roofing questions and then laughed when I told him it was going in my craft room to put my ribbon bolts in. I think he was about 85 and not into ribbons but he had a good sense of humor.
My husband on the other hand when I got home with the 10' gutter sticking out of the back of my pickup was more skeptical. It helps when I don't ask him to do it for me. I guess I've created some pretty big messes for him to clean up. *sigh* The projects always seem easy enough in my head.....

This is my wrapping section. There were these cool wire baskets on the property when we bought it. The older gentleman who owned the property years ago used them to haul rocks and such. I hear he was quite the thrifty shopper too....thus the school house door! There is a picture of the door further down. I keep the boxes handy for wrapping presents too. I used bags for a long time but there just isn't the anticipation in opening a bag as there is in a nicely wrapped gift.

This is my wrapping table.
Next to the wrapping table is the louvered door screen that I put together. The doors were in the barn when we moved in. I cleaned, painted and assembled them for an outdoor project which my husband and his buddy veto'd and laughed at me, pointing out that I was turning into an old lady and suggested I put lawn gnomes and flamingos with it. I love it when our senior gals decorate their lawns. It shows they still have spunk and ambition. The fella's aren't ready for that yet. So, I brought it inside and now it hides my large bolts of fabric and batting as well as my tool boxes while providing a place to hang my punches.
Looking back....it was somewhat cheesy looking outside...don't tell them I said that....I'll NEVER hear the end of it.

This is my ironing station, next to the door to my daughters "apartment."
I like the bulletin board above. I found the thick cork boards in the cold storage off the end of the barn. I covered them with fabric and attached them to the wall.
Here is my sewing machine and cutting table. The machine sits on my Grandma Ollie's old Singer. It's still in there and it still works with the old cord but I'm a little nervous to plug it in. I'm going to get a belt for the treadle. It would be a good one to have to stitch through leather.

My husband purchased this antique table and chairs for me from a sale. The chairs had green cracked vinyl so I recovered them in coordinating greens and brown fabrics to go with my yellow walls and brown & green curtains. I put extra padding in the seats for those long crafting sessions. Those are usually Scrapbooking days.

You can see more of the cool wire baskets under the table. I put 4 of them on a plywood base that I attached wheels to. I can slide it out from under the table and they hold larger fabric pieces, large floral picks, Christmas goodies I purchased on clearance for ornament making this fall and there is something in the fourth one....I just don't remember what it is.

This is the wall behind my cutting table. The dresser is a $5 find. It holds yarn, embroidery hoops for my machine and other miscellaneous sewing stuff.

You can see the top shelf on the left of the plastic shoe boxes. I have those loaded with accessories and trim assortments for creating bags and such. On the right side you see a speaker and an old sewing machine someone donated to me. Those old metal machines can sew through anything...within reason...not wood or concrete though. :)
Here is the temporary lighting above the cutting table. I saw this idea on Pinterest last week. You use clear plastic cups, Modpodge on some fabric, drill holes in the top and stick your little lights through. I just did this yesterday and my husband announced today that we are going to the Big Hardware Store in a neighboring village (Home Depot - the clouds part and sun shines down upon us!!! HOME DEPOT!!! YES!!!) Anyway, we are going to look at lighting for my play room. HOORAY! I'll put these plastic cup lights out in the green house for added ambiance at night.

Here is the bigger picture of the lights. I think they will be really cute in the green house! Hey, maybe I should put flamingo's and lawn gnomes in there too! I have to tune in with my inner old lady...she and I will become one in the next few years. BAHAHAHAHA!!!

By the front door I have my cleaning necessities and paints. You never know when you are going to find something amazing at a yard sale and just know that flat black spray paint will turn it into something absolutely fabulous for around your house. That's an old school house door. It hasn't been trimmed around yet. What can I say, two years ago when we purchased the property this room had been used for storage for years. I don't have before pictures. It was too gross for words. It was a dog house for a winter too for the people who lived here before. ICK!!!

A gal has to have inspiration. I love Christmas and over the years I've collected and have been gifted wonderful ornaments and collected a few trinkets from my travels. I keep this little tree up all year to enjoy them and for inspiration.

I'm actually getting tired of dusting the little tree so I bet it gets stored away in the next week or so. As I'm posting and looking at these pictures I took yesterday all I see is CLUTTER! It's moments like these that make me pull everything apart and reorganize. I feel a reorganization brewing....hahaha!
Thank you for joining me with my first blog. It was pretty enjoyable. Maybe I'll do one on the green house this spring or my big garden this summer. Maybe a sewing project, reorganizing project, folding laundry, baking cookies, etc....
